Rays’ Kevin Cash honored as AL’s top manager

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash was named American League manager of the year, after finishing in third place in each of the previous two years. 

This is the third time a Tampa Bay manager has been honored. Joe Maddon won the award while with the Rays in 2008 and 2011.

No manager was named on every ballot.

Ballots, submitted prior to postseason play, were cast by two writers representing each league city. They are tabulated on a system that awards five points for first place, three points for second place and one point for third place.
