Orioles manager Brandon Hyde, who was the runner-up to Terry Francona in the 2022 election, was named the American League Manager of the Year.
Hyde is the ninth Manager of the Year Award winner who did not play in the major leagues. The others: four-time winner Buck Showalter, three-time winners Jim Leyland and Joe Maddon, two-time winner Jack McKeon as well as Jim Frey, John McNamara, Brian Snitker and Mike Schildt.
This is the fourth time a Baltimore manager has been honored. The others: Frank Robinson (1989), Davey Johnson (1997) and Buck Showalter (2014).
Hyde was the only manager named on every ballot.
